ReedGeek Classic
The âGeek that started it all! The ReedGeek âClassicâ is machined with four very crisp planing edges which make it exceptional for maintaining (single) reed flatness and removing cane from all reeds (single & double) rapidly and precisely. Other features include two rail adjustors, the âpencil eraserâ radius tip for pin-point precision adjustments, and a square back for scraping and profiling. With an extremely high Rockwell hardness, the ReedGeek âClassicâ now undergoes a proprietary Chromium medical-grade process to enhance corrosion resistance and edge-retention longevity. With all of these indispensable features, the âClassicâ will give its owner consistently great-playing reeds!
Staff Review
A small but very useful tool! I bought one of these because I discovered the benefits of flattening the backs of reeds, which allows for a much better seal with the mouthpiece table. Originally I was doing this with fine grit sandpaper, but the ReedGeek allows you to do this much more precisely without taking too much material away from the reed.
Getting the hang of using it did take me a bit of time though, so I would highly recommend watching a few tutorials. Fortunately there are plenty of videos and other tips available for free at www.reedgeek.com
Whilst you may ruin a few reeds in the early stages of using the ReedGeek (I certainly did!), before long you'll be getting a lot more longevity out of them. Even reeds that would have otherwise ended up straight in the bin! - Oren Gurney ([email protected])
